Symbols of The Father

Symbols represent or point to something else - for example a heart symbolizes Love, a dove often represents Peace, a lion is used to symbolize Royalty, an owl symbolizes Wisdom and the Toronto Maple Leaf logo symbolizes playoff frustration!

This morning we are observing Communion and for some - this is a symbol of Jesus sacrifice on the cross for all humanity - and that is certainly true - but it is actually much more than that!  A symbol by definition represents something more than what it is.  A symbol doesn’t diminish something.

Being a symbol always makes something more important - never less important.

For example, a white cloth is just that until it is emblazed with red bands and a maple leaf and then becomes a symbol and carries powerful and emotional meaning for millions of people.

Father’s are symbols of the reality of the Heavenly Father.  That doesn’t make them less - it makes them more!

Fathers provide a pathway and a connection to God’s love, mercy and saving grace because when they give their children “good gifts,” it makes it much easier for children to connect with a heavenly Father who gave the best gift of all — His Son, who died on a cross for their sins.
