William Leal said "It's all messy: the hair, the bed, the words, the heart. Life." So true and of the many things we can find that divide us as humans - the one thing that we all have in common is - we're messy. That's not a personal-grooming accusation but a life-living reality. We've all been in messes - either one's we created or one's we were handed and if we're between messes - we know we're probably just one bad decision away from another one.
A significant truth about the messes we encounter in our lives is that they're an opportunity to experience both the existence of God and the presence of God ... existence and presence are not the same thing. One is about awareness and the other is about relationship.
This series is a great one if you've ever wondered if the messes you've made or the mess you're in disqualify you from the presence of God or if anything good can ever result from them. The good news is that our mess is what brought God close to us in the first place and Jesus shows us that God doesn't stand in judgment over us - but rather shows us what grace is and stands with us in compassion and love and then can lead us through and out of our messes.
