Faith is perhaps the most misused and sometimes abused concept in religion. It’s also confusing - Mark Twain said faith is - “believin’ what you know ain’t so!”
As we begin our Starting Point series - this morning we're going to take a step outward to look at the broader context of Faith and then a step inward to look at it within the context of religion. Neither of the words Faith or Belief are religious words but when they get used in the context of religion - sometimes we attach a mystical or ooowy-goowy spirituality to them - intimating that there's a "feeling" to faith. Faith shouldn’t be as mysterious as it is sometimes made out to be. Everyone has faith - God has given humanity the ability or the capacity to believe and Faith isn't a power - but it is powerful.
