That would be a good thought - but actually before Jesus came to complete the work - God began the work to deal with the problem of sin and its effects on the world by engaging a man named Abraham.

There’s an amazing personal part for you and me - God and Abraham have a conversation and in that dialogue we read a statement that is so powerful, personal and so full of hope for every one of us because God states the nature or the terms of a relationship between God and humanity. This is the first recorded indication that a human being can have a right standing with God and what's involved in receiving it.
