One of the first indications of the Christmas season is Christmas lights - lights everywhere, in windows and on houses, on trees ... even on dogs and cats! Everything seems to be wrapped in a million lights but the lights aren’t just decorative - they’re symbolic.
Light brings life, awareness and beauty.
There are lots of spiritual truths associated with Christmas but they will be hard to see - unless we can grasp this one first - the world - as beautiful as it can be - is a dark place and we won’t find our way unless Jesus is our LIGHT.
Jesus isn’t Good advice - it’s Good News. Advice is counsel about what you must DO. News is a report about what has already been DONE. Christmas tells us that God himself has come in the birth of Jesus to rescue and renew all creation! It’s a good news announcement that we don’t have to save ourselves - but that God has come to save us! Jesus is the light of the world!
