Picture this: You're living your normal life, making plans, maybe even feeling like you've got some things figured out. Then God shows up with a completely different script — one that makes no earthly sense!

And your first response isn't that God has shown up!

If we could step into their sandals in the days before that first Christmas, we might be surprised at what we'd feel. The Nativity scenes we see displayed show them as calm and composed, serene— like they're posing for a Christmas card. But the truth is, their journey started with shock, lots of uncertainty with really awkward conversations and serious social risk.

Mary's story began with her heart racing and her mind spinning. An angel's announcement meant her life was about to change in ways she couldn't predict, control, or fully understand.  And Joseph? His story began with the most difficult decision of his life: Would he believe Mary's impossible explanation, or would he quietly step away from the woman he loved to protect both their reputations?

In our video - Mary sums it all up, saying - "Jesus came to disrupt everything and everyone!"  That’s a tough truth to accept in those moments when it's happening but reality is - the abundant life Jesus promised - will rarely if ever slide seamlessly into our current way of thinking or our current way of life.

Here's what makes their story so powerful: In the face of the unknown, the costly, and the risky, both Mary and Joseph found the courage to say, "Yes, Lord" and the rest ... is history!
