When someone does their time in jail and fully satisfies the sentence, the law has no more claim on them and they walk out free. At Easter - we celebrate that Jesus - the Christ, the Messiah came to pay the penalty for our sins.
That was an infinite sentence, but he must have satisfied it fully, because on Easter Sunday he walked out of the death sentence - FREE. The resurrection was God’s way of stamping PAID IN FULL right across history so that nobody could miss it.
He didn't just experience Resuscitation ... a temporary comeback as a reprieve from the reality of death. He came back permanently - not temporarily or with fragility! He brought humanity a better "Resurrection" that isn't simply about "looking on the bright side" or the awareness of life after death but the confidence that there is life now! The Resurrection promise means we can face whatever darknesses we experience today with courage that comes from the strength of living hope that though the deaths we face have a "sting" - those "losses" that are temporary and no longer have dominion or victory.
The Good News of Easter is not just another uplifting story that points to the underlying reality, rather - Jesus is the underlying reality to which all the other stories point!
